As a fan though seeing these characters animated again is great. Its
also very refreshing to see new incarnations of older characters
instead of the same old, same old. Seeing characters like Angel and
Iceman portrayed properly is good to see but other characters like
Rogue and Quicksilver lack the heroism and inner strength they have in
the comics can be frustrating at times. But this series still has time
and opportunities to see into the heads of characters acting
questionably, because this is a different universe that gives the
writers free reign to manipulate any back stories of any characters
they like. Its impossible to criticize characters for acting strangely
when this is only the first or second time weve seen them.
The plot of this episode seems rushed at times and dwells a little heavily on the action instead of character interaction and development. Theres a nice little subplot about Wolverine and Rogue but its hard to care when you see her spending more time getting chased by robots than talking. The story adopts a break-neck speed by the second half of the episode probably when they realize they may have spent too much time with action and the X-men recruits made by Wolverine barely get a chance to speak. While Hindsight part 2 does have some good moments and sharp dialogue the plot falls apart by the end of the episode. Frankly it suffers from the over-abundance of action scenes and lack of character development, which is what we need in the second episode of a new series.
